Former rugby development Officer Frank Boivert said that the Fiji Rugby Union's untimely decision to replace backline coach Iliesa Tanivula with Iosefo Bele is uncalled for.
Speaking to Village Sports, Boivert said that most rugby lovers' find it hard to comprehend the decision as most of the tries in the competition was scored by the backs.
However, the FRU has maintained that after a review of the FMF Flying Fijians 15s rugby team’s performance in the Pacific 6 Nation Cup it was decided that there should be changes made to the coaching staff.
FRU CEO Ratu Timoci Tavanavanua added that it was evident that the backline was playing below standard and they had to make changes to the back-line coach.
He added that Iosefo Bele is not new to the coaching job as he has guided the Naitasiri back-line team for the past season and also holds an IRB level 3 coaching certificate.
