Police have just recovered the body of a man who was trapped under more than 100 tons of grain after one of the Silos belonging to the Flour Mills of Fiji at Walu Bay collapsed at around 10 o'clock this morning.
Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed that the man had been identified and has been taken to the CWM Hospital.
A Silo is a large cylinder structure or tower for storing wheat.
Engineers also managed to secure the second silo with a crane located adjacent to the one that collapsed and the Chief Fire Officer Mark said there is no danger of it collapsing.
Engineers are expected to inspect the structure to ascertain what caused the silo to collapse once the all clear is given by the NFA and the Police.

Search Continues For Trapped Man
About 60 police officers and National Fire Authority officials are still trying to find a person believed to be trapped under more than a hundred tons of grain after one of the Silos belonging to the Flour Mills of Fiji at Walu Bay, collapsed at around 10 o'clock this morning.
Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri said the person they are looking for is believed to be a customer who was attending a business meeting at the location.
Sokomuri added they are hopeful of locating the man before it gets dark.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Reid said they have brought in special equipment to cut through the debris to try and locate the missing man.
Reid also confirmed that engineers have secured the second silo and there is no danger of it collapsing.

FMF Silo Collapses In Walu Bay
One person is believed to be trapped under more than a hundred tons of grain after one of the Silos belonging to the Flour Mills of Fiji at Walu Bay, collapsed just after 10 o'clock this morning.
A Silo is a large cylinder structure or tower for storing wheat with this Silo being about 30 meters high.
Police have cordoned off the area with the Fire Authority, St John Ambulance and Red Cross are currently at the scene.
Chief Fire Officer Mark Reid, who is at the scene, had confirmed they are still looking for a person who was seen near the Silo just before it collapsed and who is still missing.
Reid added at this moment there is no other casualty.
However, FMF General Manager Sales and Marketing Preetam Sakia told Fijivillage that they have just completed a roll call of all staff members and everyone is accounted for.
He said the silo was not occupied when it collapsed and they are now trying to clear the area.
He also said that there were no injuries to any staff when the silo collapsed.

Sokomuri said they have now brought in bulldozers to clear the grain and find the person currently trapped under about 100 tons of grain.
Sokomuri said they are trying to get statements from eyewitnesses and all the workers on what actually happened.
An eyewitness Naresh Chand Prasad said he saw the Silo collapse.
