Police Director Operations SSP Waisea Tabakau confirmed this to Fijivillage, saying that Police investigations are continuing.
He added that a post mortem is expected to be conducted today to determine the cause of death.
Meanwhile, Tabakau said they want to reduce the crime rate by 70% by the end of the year adding they have recorded a 26% reduction in the crime rate for the first five months of this year compared to the same period last year and they are optimistic that they can bring this number down even further by the end of the year.
Tabakau said they can achieve this despite not having the latest technology in crime fighting equipment.
According to Police statistics for the first five months of 2009, the number of rape and attempted rape cases has dropped by 43 percent, indecent assault by 18%, defilement of girls under 13 by 64% compared to the same period last year, while there has been a marked increase of 67% in the defilement of girls between 13 and 16, an increase of 50% in unnatural offences, an increase of 19% of other offences against public morality and no change in the incest cases.
