A 29 year old boatman of an Island Resort in the Western Division appeared in Nadi Court this afternoon charged with alledged rape of a 21 year old tourist.
Sakio Koroi appeared before Magistrate Nazeem Sahu Khan and his plea has been deferred till 22nd August as Koroi is seeking to be represented.
The alleged incident took place yesterday when the Resort employee allegedly dragged the tourist into a room and raped her.
The tourist later reported the matter to other employees, who then reported it to Police. He is remanded in custody until August 22nd.
