The Blues have snapped up Olympic sevens hopeful and former Chiefs and All Black halfback Augustine Pulu for the next two Super Rugby seasons.
The two‑year deal reunites Pulu with his former Counties Manukau coach Tana Umaga in a significant signing for the under‑performing Auckland‑based franchise who have just two wins from their first six matches in the 2016 Super Rugby season.
The 26‑year‑old from Auckland is recovering from a broken arm he suffered at the Sydney Sevens in February and is hoping to return to action in time to push for a spot in Gordon Tietjens' New Zealand sevens squad for the Rio Olympics.
The Blues face the Sharks at 7.35pm Saturday.
Meanwhile the Crusaders play the Jaguares at 7.35pm Friday while the Rebels play the Hurricanes at 9.40pm.
