Crusaders head coach Todd Blackadder had opted to rest his captain Kieran Read for their must win match against the Rebels this weekend.
The Crusaders lost to the Chiefs 23-13 last week in Fiji and also their lead in the New Zealand conference standings.
The Crusaders will meet the Rebels at 7.35pm Saturday.
