Chiefs prop Ben May expects Todd Blackadder to keep things pretty much the same when his tenure as new Crusaders coach begins this weekend.

May played under Blackadder at Tasman and is back for his second stint in the Waikato colours.

He cannot see the former All Black captain deviating too much from the successful formula as Blackadder likes small things done well, so May doubts he will bring anything too flashy, but will look to use width.

May said knowing many of the Crusaders tight forwards well, he will not be short of advice for his front row colleagues ahead of Saturday's Super 14 opener.

The Crusaders/Chiefs match will kickoff at 4:30pm Saturday.

In other matches this weekend, the Highlanders play the Brumbies on Friday at 6:35pm, then at 10:45pm the Force take on the Blues then on early Saturday morning at 5:10 Lions hosts the Cheetahs.

On Saturday, the Waratahs/Hurricanes match will kickoff at 6:35pm, while in South Africa on Sunday morning at three, Stormers meets the Sharks and at 5:10am the Bulls hosts the Reds.
