If the Black Caps win their maiden Cricket World Cup on Sunday, it could be the biggest wedding gift that Grant Elliott can give his sister.
A belated one, though.
The 36‑year‑old all‑rounder turned hero at Eden Park last night after his unbeaten 84 helped New Zealand clinch their maiden World Cup spot.
Elliott said that his sister is getting married this weekend which is also unfortunate that he will miss it.
He said he believes that he will be giving her a special gift come Sunday.
After hitting the six which gave the Black Caps a four‑wicket win, Elliott first raised his arms in jubilation, then extended his hand in compassion to South African bowler Dale Steyn, the man who bowled the final ball.
Meanwhile, India will play Australia at 3.30pm tomorrow.
The Cricket World Cup final will be held at 3.30pm Sunday.
