A big celebration is expected at Nadrala Village, Navosa, to acknowledge the golden jump of Iliesa Delana at the Paralympic Games in London yesterday.
Proud mum Lice Bulusui said Delana’s family at Nadrala and Naigani Village in Batiki, along with old scholars of Cuvu College plan to hold their own celebrations.
Bulusui added she is thankful to the people of Fiji for supporting Iliesa especially with their prayers and congratulatory messages.
Iliesa Delana won gold in the high jump F42 category for single leg amputees with a jump of 1.74 metres setting a new Oceania record in the process and becoming the first athlete ever in Fiji and the Pacific to win a gold medal in the Paralympic Games.
Delana returns to Fiji next Wednesday.
