It seems like there are one set of rules for the military, their friends and family and another set of rules for the rest of the public.
This is the view of Pacific Centre for Public Integrity Director, Angie Heffernan who adds that Francis Kean be allowed to keep his position of Navy Commander and still receive his pay, is indicative of the fact that accountability and transparency does not apply to them.
Fiji Human Rights Commissioner and Fiji Women's Crisis Centre Coordinator, Shameema Ali said Kean keeping his post and pay during the appeal process is unacceptable and unfair and adds that these actions do not show good governance.
Military Spokesperson, Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga had earlier confirmed that Kean would still be the Navy Commander and receive his pay while the appeal process is on going.
