Better roads around the country will depend on whether ratepayers pay their dues on time.

Minister for Local Government, Colonel Samuela Saumatua said this as the Lami and Suva Municipal Council kick started a pilot project that will see seven new roads built in the Wailada Sub division.

The project which costs $1.5 million comes under the Centre Co-coordinating Agency for Roads (CCAR) which sees the project outsourced to Highway Stabilizers.

Colonel Saumatua said by the end of the year, the CCAR will focus on the other 13 municipalities around the country however this will only be made possible if ratepayers play their part.
