Fiji Rugby's best local players named in the Air Pacific Fiji Warriors and the Fiji Barbarians squads last month by national Coach Sam Domoni take to the field today to contest for a spot in the Fiji A team to take on Tonga A in a two match series later this month.

Domoni said they are excited to have this opportunity to give their best local players a run against the best local players from Tonga.

He said it rekindles the old rivalry they used to have before the advent of professionalism when both teams were always made up of home grown players.

The upcoming Fiji Tonga A Series is the brainchild of Fiji Rugby Union Chief Executive Officer Keni Dakuidreketi.

The first game in the series will be played at the National Stadium, Suva on Friday 16th April and the second and final game will be played at Lautoka's Churchill Park on 23rd April.

The trial for the Fiji A team will take place today at 10am at Albert Park.
