From the Island of Beqa to Ukraine.

It is a dream come true for 17-year-old Saula Nodrakoro from Raviravi as he is one of the five athletes chosen to represent Fiji in the upcoming World Youth Championship in Ukraine.

Nodrakoro won silver for Beqa Yanuca Secondary in the intermediate boys 400 meters during the Coca Cola Games.

Nodrakoro said despite doing most of his training back in the islands he will be aiming for a better finish at the Championship.

Nodrakoro added he has been motivated by his mother who raised him after his father left them.

Meanwhile, out of the five athletes, four received their airline tickets yesterday with Danielle Alakija yet to be confirmed.

The National Sports Commission assisted the athletes with their accommodation and traveling expenses worth $26,000.

Other athletes that will be taking part include Jacob Waqanivalu of Suva Grammar School, Uluiyata Batinisavu of Natabua High School and Aaron Powell of Gospel High School.

The World Youth Championship is scheduled from the 12th to the 17th of this month.
