Nadi soccer goalkeeper Beniaminio Mateinaqara, who won the Footballer of Year Award recently, will guide the team in the OFC Champions League from Monday.

President Navneeda Goundar said Mateinaqara is the most experienced player in his team and will be a good leader.

Meanwhile, Nadi has just made one previous appearance in the OFC Champions League in 1999 when the team went all the way to the final.

They lost to Melbourne FC 5-1 in the final, equalling the best finish for a Fiji club side in the competition.

Nadi will face champion Auckland City at 4pm next Tuesday at Churchill Park in its first match of the OFC Champions League and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Radio Sargam.
