A bench warrant has been issued against former Commissioner Central, Inoke Devo.

FICAC prosecutor Laisa Lagilevu made an application asking Judge Daniel Gounder to issue the bench warrant due to Devo's non-appearance in court today.

Lagilevu said there was no record on file to show that Devo was excused from court appearance today.

The matter was called for pre-trial conference this morning however FICAC had received a letter before the case was called, informing them that defence counsel Rajendra Chaudhry was sick and could not appear for his client.

Chaudhry stated in the letter that Aseri Vakaloloma would be appearing for him on instructions.

Justice Gounder issued the bench warrant and the matter has been adjourned to the 19th of next month.

Devo is facing charges of abuse of office, corruption and extortion.
