As the Gold Coast 7s is set to kick off today, Vodafone Fiji Sevens coach Ben Ryan said he will not promise anything but hopes are high for a good start of the 2014/2015 IRB World Sevens Series.
Ryan has warned his players that their pool games will not come easy.
This was after he analyzed each team with Scotland finishing second from the European Sevens, Portugal having majority of its experienced players and host Australia being labeled as the tournament favorites by the IRB.
Meanwhile, defending champion New Zealand is also looking for a positive start this weekend.
All Blacks 7s captain DJ Forbes admits his side won’t be the only ones looking to get their HSBC Sevens World Series off to a positive start.
Forbes believes this year will be the most competitive to date.
Also having their say is the Commonwealth Games gold medalist South Africa who is looking to begin their campaign on a high with a third tournament victory in Australia.
South African veteran Frankie Horne said the next two days of action will set the tone for what is the most eagerly-awaited Series in history.
