Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan has named a strong 12-member team to compete in the Wellington 7s this weekend.

Ryan has named Pio Tuwai, Semi Kunatani, Isake Katonibau, Jasa Veremalua and Apisai Domolailai in the forwards.

The backs are captain Osea Kolinisau, Jerry Tuwai, Eminoni Nasilasila, Emosi Mulevoro, Vatemo Ravouvou, Savenaca Rawaca and Sevuloni Mocenacagi.

He has rested Viliame Mata and playmaker Alifereti Veitokani who could both make an appearance in the Sydney 7s next weekend.

Speaking to Fijivillage from Wellington, Ryan said he wanted to see the things they have been working on during training from the players.

He said a number of players will also make their first appearance at the Westpac Stadium tomorrow.

Meanwhile, All Black 7s debutant Sonny Bill Williams said he is excited and ready to play in his first 7s tournament this weekend.

South Africa’s captain Philip Snyman said they are hoping to build on their win from Cape Town and produce some great rugby in Wellington.

England captain Tom Mitchell, who won the Wellington Sevens in 2013, said it’s all about focusing on the job at hand and they are excited about the challenge ahead.

South Africa has been rated as the in-form team heading into the tournament, having won the second round of the series on home soil in Cape Town, but with defending champion New Zealand naming a strong squad, Fiji ahead of them in the standing by points difference and the likes of USA, Kenya, Australia, England, France and Argentina all snapping at the heels, more thrills and spills are expected.

Fiji 7s captain Osea Kolinisau said they want nothing more than a win.

Fiji is in Pool B with Japan, Wales and Argentina in the Wellington tournament.

They will take on Japan at 11.36am tomorrow.

Fiji will then face Wales at 2.38pm and take on Argentina at 5.46pm tomorrow.

The Cup quarters will start at 12.02pm Sunday, the Cup semis start at 4.27pm while the Cup final kicks off at 7.30pm.
