Ben Franks has fired aggressive statements at his teammates as they get ready for a two match tour of South Africa.

The Hurricanes suddenly have issues, ninth on the Super Rugby ladder and still searching for a back up hooker.

And so it was a grumpy Franks who swum against the tide in the wake of Friday's 18-16 loss to the Stormers.

Franks said it is not a team thing, it's individual as the players have to be accountable for their own areas and when it is happening week to week it's something you have to look at.

The former Crusaders prop said it is the same things that have not been going well like getting out of their own half and silly mistakes at crucial times when they are trying to build pressure.

A classic example was when the Hurricanes went up 16-13 against the Stormers, but turned over possession on their own 22 metres line from the kick off then conceded a soft try to win Gio Aplon.

The Hurricanes will meet the Bulls this Sunday at 5.10am.

At 7.35pm Friday the Blues meet the Stormers.

At 9.40pm the Rebels host the Chiefs while at 6.05pm Sunday, the table leaders Brumbies play the Crusaders.
