Belgium scored two goals in extra time to secure their quarterfinal spot at the FIFA World Cup after 28 years.

Led by inspirational captain Vincent Kompany, Belgium dominated possession in most of the match as they held on to set up a rematch of their 1986 semifinal loss to Argentina.

Belgium will meet Argentina at 4am this Sunday.

In another match this morning Argentina defeated Switzerland 1‑ nil.

Meanwhile, in other quarter final matches, France will play Germany at 4am Saturday, Brazil will take on Colombia at 8am followed by Netherlands against Costa Rica at 8am Sunday.

Looking at the teams who have won the FIFA World Cup title,  Brazil has won it five times, Germany has won it three times, Argentina has won it twice, France secured the title in 1998 while Netherlands, Costa Rica, Belgium and Colombia have never won a World Cup title.
