The opposition’s Principal Administrative Officer, Mick Beddoes says it is a fact that SODELPA can never hope to form a government as long as the disruptive elements remain part of SODLEPA.

It has become clear that Beddoes and Opposition Leader, Ro Teimumu Kepa are being targeted by five SODELPA MPs who are not agreeing with some of the decisions made by Ro Teimumu.

When questioned by Fiji Village, Beddoes says there is no doubt that the infighting within SODELPA is not over yet.

Beddoes does not agree with SODELPA putting greater control on the position of the Leader of Opposition.

He says SODELPA President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu should also get everyone together to resolve the issues in the party.

Beddoes says the SODELPA management board should act in a transparent manner and release the full investigation report.

Beddoes says they do not know about the decisions being taken by the SODELPA management board. He also says the management board has also decided not to expel SODELPA parliamentarian, Mosese Bulitavu from the party.

Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu stated earlier this month that the Management Board vigorously debated and discussed the Investigation Report tabled from the Team led by Anare Jale as well as the Report of the Disciplinary Committee led by Emitai Boladuadua.

Ratu Naiqama said the Management Board agreed that its decisions should be based on fairness to all members involved, the integrity of the party, its political sustainability, and the interests of all the members and voters.

The SODELPA Management Board appealed for party unity.

Two sets of complaints were taken up to the party management board.

One was from SODELPA parliamentarian, Mosese Bulitavu and the members who co‑signed his complaint. The other was from Mick Beddoes.

Some of the matters raised by Bulitavu and his group included alleged lack of consultation on a few issues by the Opposition Leader.

Questions have also been raised on why the Opposition staff positions were not advertised and the salary levels of Beddoes and others.

Concerns were also raised on the budget of the Opposition office and how decisions are being made to spend the money allocated to the office.

Ro Teimumu, Ratu Naiqama and SODELPA General Secretary, Pio Tabaiwalu could not be reached for comments. We will have more later this afternoon.
