Former SODELPA members Peter Waqavonovono and Mick Beddoes have confirmed that they were coordinating the establishment of a proposed new political entity.

Waqavonovono and Beddoes today confirmed that they are coordinating the preparations for a proposed new political entity to be launched once all the requirements of the Registration and Regulations of Political Parties Decree is concluded.

A brief statement has been released that says that a draft constitution has been completed and is being reviewed by the group.

Discussions with interested individuals, groups and parties, have begun and is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.

Beddoes says no further details can be released yet as there are strict guidelines to be followed.

He says the names of other group members will be released later.

The statement says the purpose of the proposed political entity which will be youth driven and gender equal is to invite all opposition individuals, groups and parties to unite into a grand coalition ahead of the 2018 elections.

Waqavonovono and Beddoes says that there would be no further statements issued on this matter until the proposed new political entity’s application for registration is ready for lodgement in order for no un‑intended breaches of the rules pertaining to a group holding itself out to be a political party during the registration process.
