The ousted Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes has written to the Secretary General of the United Nations requesting an explanation on the UN's support of Fiji's Military government and ignoring the elected representatives of the people.

Beddoes has asked Ban Ki Moon to explain how relevant the UN in today’s world is when it invites and applauds illegally installed leaders of member countries.

In his letter Beddoes said that by giving the military regime a 2nd opportunity to speak from a world platform without offering a counter opportunity to the former prime minister or the opposition leader, the UN is not acting in the interest of Fiji or its people and its actions to date look more like aiding and abetting the act of treason.

He is calling on the United Nations to recommend to all member countries to enact laws that will give them the power to arrest on sight the coup perpetrators and stop their ability to travel outside their country.

Meanwhile, the Interim Prime Minister remains undeterred in New York despite Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase's letter to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon.

Commodore Frank Bainimarama said the interim government will not be deterred by the divisive and misguided politics of Qarase and the SDL party.

Speaking from the US, Bainimarama said nothing will stop him from promoting and effectively implementing the way forward as has been mapped out for Fiji through the consultative Peoples Charter process.

He said it is a pity that Qarase has again gone to the international community rather than taking the opportunity to become part of the process and engaging in constructive dialogue for building a better Fiji for all.

Bainimarama said the door remains open for Qarase to engage through the NCBBF and also the Presidential Political Forum and to get his views heard through these processes.

Before leaving for New York to address the UN General Assembly, Commodore Frank Bainimarama said in an interview with Fijivillage that the Charter process will go ahead with or without the SDL, the NFP and the Methodist Church executives. He said the only issue is that there may be no elections for some time.
