There is something wrong with the police force if they are defending their barbaric bully actions which landed prisoner Joe Baleiloa in hospital.
Those were the words of ousted Opposition Leader Mick Beddoes who said this is yet another shameful, barbaric display of human rights abuse by the military against unarmed citizens.
Beddoes went on to say that Baleiloa received treatment contrary to the Constitution under Chapter 4 of the Bill of Rights Section 25 (1).
This section states, "Every person has the right to freedom from torture of any kind, whether physical, mental or emotional, and from cruel, inhumane, degrading or disproportionately severe treatment or punishment.
Meanwhile, Fiji Human Rights Commissioner Dr Shaista Shameem said they will wait for a medical report or for an inquiry report from the ministry of Defense before making any comments.
The Police Commissioner Esala Teleni said he will only comment on the matter when the time is right.
