The Immigration Department has called on schools that are recruiting overseas students to be more vigilant and to see whether the students recruited are attending school or are involved in other activities.
This comes after 10 Pakistani nationals were deported yesterday after it was discovered that they were involved in illegal activities.
Director Immigration, Commander Villiame Naupoto said they are liaising with schools to see that Fiji is not used as transit point, for those who come under the pretext of wanting to attend school here.
According to Commander Naupoto, Fiji can always be used as a transit point and he has called on authorities to be vigilant.
The 10 Pakistani nationals who were deported yesterday came under the guise to study english in a school in Namaka, and their intentions changed once they arrived in the country.
These Pakistani nationals were arrested by officers from Immigration, CID and Police Strike Back unit.
