There cannot be a “one size fits all” thus the obligation is on you to plan activities that are transparent, practical and beneficial for your council services.

Those were the words of Permanent Secretary for Local Government Maraia Ubitau while officially opening the Civic Education Workshop held in partnership with UNDP, attended by various Heads of Town Councils in Suva this morning.

Ubitau stressed to various council heads in attendance that there will always be challenges when venturing into areas of change and they must expect initial resistance, but the government has strongly dedicated its term of leadership in the nation to one of speedily upgrading services and producing instant results.

Meanwhile, UNDP’s National Initiative on Civic Education (NICE) Project manager Oscar Tembo said the workshop is for providing suitable municipality services that are responsive to the needs of citizens.
