The Interim Minister of Justice Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum had called on the Fiji Law Society to be more transparent in their dealings saying their public outbursts are a publicity stunt.

Khaiyum said that despite an understanding with the Society President Dor Sami Naidu, they had gone ahead and talked about debarring him when they have not followed protocol themselves.

He added that he had received a letter from the Secretary of the Society in June this year, saying that the Society had received a complaint from Ratu Isikeli Draunibaka questioning his position saying that Khaiyum could not be a general legal practitioner as he had taken an illegal and unconstitutional oath.

Khaiyum said that he had followed protocol and replied on the 3rd of July, asking for evidence that would prove the complaint, but had not received any letter to date.

He added that his stance has not changed since then and he once again calls for evidence showing that he should be debarred.
