A report on the reasons for the grounding of the Vessel Bawaqa is expected to be handed over to the Transport Minister next week.

Transports Minister Timoci Natuva confirmed that a report will be handed to him next week as he has just returned from the Philippines and will be updated as soon as he enters office.

Natuva said that FIMSA has been commissioned to investigate the incident and a full report handed to him.

Meanwhile, it is understood that the owners of the Bawaqa approached the state to help salvage the vessel.

The vessel was carrying 16 public works department workers, who were on their way to build the nursing quarters in the Yasawas when it ran aground on the reefs near Viwa Island.

Spokesperson for the Ministry Sainiana Waqainabete had earlier told Fijivillage that they have finished interviewing the workers and were left with some minor issues before a report is tabled to the minister.
