Bau High Chief, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau today appeared before Suva Magistrate Ajmal Khan for the charge of intent to cause grievous bodily harm after allegedly assaulting a soldier, who is the son of Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama.

Ratu Epenisa was represented by Howards' Lawyer, Semi Leweniqila who requested full disclosures and who also asked the court to defer the plea for two weeks as the alleged incident had just taken place over the weekend and he needed time to consult with his client.

Magistrate Khan said that full disclosures will be served in two weeks time.

The Court heard that on the night of September 7th, 2007 the accused punched Ratu Meli Bainimarama at a nightspot in Suva.

There was no objection to bail from Police Prosecutor, Constable Feroz Khan.

Ratu Epenisa Cakobau has been released on $200 bail and the case has been adjourned to the 24th of September.
