The Vodafone Fiji Bati Captain Wes Naiqama said that last night's 42-6 win against France in their opening Rugby League World Cup match proves that the side can take on the best teams in the 13 men rugby code game.
Naiqama added while he was happy with the win the results reflect the hard work been put together by the coaching staff.
He admitted his side's hammering of France last night exceeded his expectations as they beat a side who are currently are fifth in the world.
Also man of the match last night, Aaron Groom said the side can achieve their goal of reaching the semifinals. The Canterbury Bulldogs halfback, who will play a VIP role in linking the forwards and the backline, said the win has set the platform for their next game against Scotland on Wednesday.
The Bati side scored a total of 7 tries in the game as they led 18-6 at halftime.
Last night's victory has left Fiji leading the points table with two points and a game in hand against Scotland at 9.10pm on Wednesday.
