Carter’s pain is Barrett’s gain

You can detect the excitement in Beauden Barrett’s voice as he talks of the challenges the All Blacks face against South Africa in the Rugby Championship.

21-year-old Barrett has made only two test appearances, both as a substitute, but he relishes every chance that comes his way.

Beauden will almost certainly be on the bench, behind Aaron Cruden, but he is doing everything possible to ensure he is ready if the call comes.

Barrett said the All Blacks had to be prepared for different conditions, as well as different opposition, after their battle in the wind against Argentina in Wellington.

The All Blacks and South Africa match kicks off 7.35pm this Saturday.
