The Fiji Barbarians 15's rugby team is out to create history in the Pacific Rugby Cup this season by trying to win their first ever title since the inception of the competition in 2006.

The Barbarians have not reached any of the finals and are one of the only two teams that have not won the PRC title.

Coach Penisoni Uluiviti had a dream start to the PRC with a 23-20 upset win over the defending champions the Fiji Warriors and yesterday recorded a bonus point win against Tau'uta Reds.

Both teams are undefeated going into the 3rd round knowing a win will guarantee them a place in the finals.

Uluiviti said it is a boost to his side to have the inclusion of most of the younger players who have played in the Fiji U-20 and are also part of the High Performance Unit in the likes of Iowane Naivalurua Jnr, Waqabaca Kotobalavu, Navi Bolatagici, Tikiko Uluiviti and Jaoji Dakuvula.

He added with the leadership of Rupeni Nasiga, someone who has tasted a win in the PRC with the Fiji Warriors last year, they have the depth to break their 5 year losing drought.

The Fiji Barbarians will take on Tau'tahi Gold on Friday at 5pm at Churchill Park in Lautoka and a live commentary of the match can be heard on our sister station Viti FM.
