The Digicel Fiji 7s Barbarians are on track to win the first Digicel Suva International 7s after defeating Northern Sharks 33-nil yesterday in their opening pool game.
Playing without Captain Emosi Vucago who is sick, they displayed great understanding to prove that they deserve the national jumper.
Coach Iliesa Tanivula said though the Sharks lost they kept the Barbarians on their toes throughout the game.
Watisoni Votu and Waisale Beci scored two tries each for the Barbarians and Nadroga's Jiuta Lutumailagi scored the fifth try.
Looking at the results from the first day of the tournament, Wardens beat PNG 22-7, Police beat Western Force 21-10, Veiyasana Fijians beat Canada 19-14 and Asaeli Naiteqe led his Waimanu team to beat Tonga 19-7.
The capital Suva City side proved too good for Manawatu as they beat them 31-nil, Army lost to USA 12-15 and Ratu Filise beat the Samoan Barbarians 17-12.
The first game today will see Suva take on Wardens at 1:35pm, at 1:57pm Army meet Police, at 2:19pm Ratu Filise takes on Veiyasana and at 2:41pm Northern Sharks take on Waimanu.
