Pacific Games sprint champion Banuve Tabakaucoro took out the blue ribbon event of the Fiji Games last night after clocking a time of 10.50secs.

Tabakaucoro did not face any competition as he cruised through the 100m final beating Gospel High School’s Aaron Powell, Marist Brothers High School’s Simon Lilicama and Jone Pio of Nabua Secondary School.

Powell came second after clocking a time of 11 secs while Pio clocked a time of 11.10 secs.

Tabakaucoro also won the 200m title clocking a time of 23 secs while Sila Central High School’s sprinter Waisake Raselala settled for silver clocking a time of 24 secs.

In the women’s 100m final, Saint Josephs Secondary School sprinter Sisilia Seavula won gold after clocking a time of 12.40secs beating Gospel High School’s Younis Bese and school mate Tamara Patrick.

Seavula in the 200m final drew with Alaiwalu Rayawa after clocking a personal best of 25.40secs.

Meanwhile, Navua were crowned the champion in the mens basketball tournament of the Fiji Games after beating Korovou 51-41 last night.

US bound Mataika Koyamainavure helped his side secure the gold as he played a big part in the final.

Nausori claimed the gold in the women’s division after beating Suva 41-31.

Looking at the netball results, Suva won gold after beating Nausori 15-9 in the final.

Korovou settled for bronze.

In the men’s beach volleyball, national reps Qilu Elliot and Epeli Ratabacaca won gold for Vunidawa, while Nadi settled for silver and Labasa with bronze.

In the women’s division, national reps Mereoni Lewesi and Talica Rawaro took out gold for Nausori, Lautoka settled for silver while Labasa with bronze.

Suva still tops the medal tally with 58 Gold, 60 Silver and 40 Bronze.

Levuka is placed second with 20 Gold, 10 Silver and 12 Bronze while Nadi in is third place with 13 Gold, 13 Silver and 9 Bronze medals.

The final day of competition will be today where 6 sports will be competing which are Archery, Hockey, Darts, Table Tennis, Billiards & Snooker and Shooting.
