Fiji’s Sprint King Banuve Tabakaucoro is on course to become the fastest man in the Pacific Games after winning his 100 metre semifinal with a time of 10.91 seconds.

His biggest rival will be from the PNG athletes who clocked a time of 11.09 seconds and 11.10 seconds in the first semifinal.

The 100 metre finals will take place at 8pm tonight.

In basketball, the Fiji Men’s team defense of the gold medal has come to an end after they lost to Guam 57-51 in the semifinal.

Looking at the medal tally: New Caledonia maintains the lead with 67 gold, 55 silver and 26 bronze, Tahiti is second with 30 gold, 18 silver and 16 bronze.

Fiji is third with 16 gold, 18 silver and 25 bronze medals.
