The task force consisting of the Police the Fair Trading Department have confiscated a large amount of banned fireworks this morning after a tip off.
Principal Mining Engineer, Ian Fong confirms that they have identified the source of the banned fireworks and the retailers who have been selling them.
Fong also said that the public have been given ample time to declare the old stocks of illegal fireworks and to hand them in.
He said they also have powers to search anyone who is suspected of using banned firecrackers.
Once again, permission has been granted for the public to use fireworks from 5pm until midnight tonight.
