Some bakeries have now started calculating new prices of bread before making a submission to the Prices and Incomes Board for increase in bread prices following increase in prices of flour and sharps from today.

Owner of Raiwaqa Bakery Apela Yee said PIB had informed them just a day before announcing the increase in prices of flour and sharps.

Yee is hopeful of making her submissions by next week and they are looking at increasing prices of all types of bread.

The price of 1kg normal flour that was $1.11 cents will cost $1.24 cents from today, 4kg normal flour that used to cost $4.23 cents will now cost $4.73 and the price of 10kg flour will now cost $11.55 cents which used to be $10.29.

The price of 1kg sharps will increase to $1.24 cents from $1.12 cents, 4kg sharps increase to $4.76 cents from $4.28 cents while 10kg sharps will now cost $11.62 cents which used to cost $10.42 cents. Prices and Incomes Board has announced that the increase is due to world market price of wheat and the impact of the devaluation in April.
