Being away from Karate for three years did not stop Naomi Bakani from doing her best in winning her first ever gold medal at the Pacific games.
Naomi won gold for Fiji yesterday in the Women's Individual Kata.
The 20 year old from the Old Capital in Levuka believes the support from her family played a vital role in her return to the sport and it was her turn yesterday to do them proud.
Meanwhile, the Fiji 7's team defeated Tahiti in its second pool match 45-0.
Fiji will play Tokelau at 5.26pm today.
So far, Fiji has won three gold medals from Karate and four gold medals from shooting.
Fiji sits third on the medal tally with 7 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze medals.
New Caledonia still leads with 28 gold, 22 silver and 6 bronze while Tahiti is second with 14 gold, 5 silver and 7 bronze.
