President Ratu Josefa Iloilo has appointed Army Commander Commodore Frank Bainimarama as Prime Minister of his interim government.

Commander Bainimarama took his oath before Ratu Josefa Iloilo at Government House just after 10:15am today.

As President Iloilo had earlier highlighted, he will be appointing an Interim Prime Minister and then the interim ministers.

The revocation of the appointments of the judges, magistrates and judicial officers are also effective.

Announcements will be made shortly about further appointments and decrees under the new Legal Order that the President is ruling under.

We have received confirmation that another swearing-in ceremony will take place between 3 to 4pm today.
