The Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama briefed the Prime Minister of Guyana on the political and economic developments in Fiji while in Guyana.

Bainimarama, who is attending the 11th Special ACP Ministerial Conference on Sugar in Guyana was welcomed by the Prime Minister Samuel Hinds whom he told that his government's resolution is to move Fiji forward.

Bainimarama also called on Fiji's long standing trading and development partners to recognise and appreciate his government's efforts to bring about genuine change to ensure sustainable peace, stability and democracy in the country.

Prime Minister Hinds called for the need for the ACP Sugar Group to remain united as they faced numerous challenges under the new trading landscape in terms of sugar and to ensure that no ACP country was worse off under the transition from the Sugar protocol to the new sugar arrangements under the regional-economic partnership agreements.

Meanwhile, Bainimarama also held bilateral talks with the President of Guyana, President Bharrat Jagdeo.
