Interim Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama should not use the power of gun to enforce his will on the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC).
Those were the words of the Secretary of the Bose Ni Vanua for Cakaudrove Ratu Jekesoni Yavalanavanua who said the GCC is for Chiefs only and as far as the Vanua of Cakaudrove is concerned, is that Bainimarama is not a chief.
Yavalanavanua said the comments made by Bainimarama that there will be no Great Council of Chiefs Meeting shows total disrespect for the institution and Chiefs.
Yavalanavanua said the Vanua of Cakaudrove does not recognise Bainimarama and any of the decisions that he makes.
Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama today said that there will be no Great Council of Chiefs meeting if the provinces do not cooperate.
He said this also raised the question about the relevance of the GCC if the chiefs do not want to assist in ensuring that the new council sits in the near future.
