Bail Decision On Duo Tomorrow
DPP Lawyer Pita Bulamainivalu told the court that the charges against Keshwa Nand and Vikash Chand are very serious which carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and that they have an eyewitness who were at the scene of the crime from when Bibi was attacked till her death.
He said one of the accused also admitted the offence in his police statement.
However, defense counsel for Chand, Sunil Kumar said the DPP is not revealing all the facts as the eyewitness in the case is alleged to have been personally responsible for mutilating Bibi and the witness had also said in her statement that others and not Chand had attacked the victim. He said Chand ran away because he himself was afraid.
Kumar also told the Judge that his client is being kept in isolation at the remand center as his life has been threatened and that he was assaulted while in police custody. The case is adjourned till 9am tomorrow for a ruling on bail.
Meanwhile, four others charged in relation to the offence remain in custody and are yet to make bail applications.
