A Pacific Sun aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing at the Nadi International Airport due to bad weather conditions yesterday.

General Manager, Jim Samson said at around 7am yesterday, the Pacific Sun Twin Otter aircraft experienced heavy turbulence and wind shear as a result of the thunderstorms over and around Nadi.

According to Samson, the aircraft was flying from Savusavu to Nadi with two crew and 12 passengers and the severe weather encounter caused the crew to declare an emergency and advise Air Traffic control at Nadi that they needed to immediately descend and turn-off from their flight planned route.

He said with clearance from ATC, the crew flew away from and around the severe weather and later landed without incident at Nadi.

No one was injured in the incident and Samson said CAAFI has been notified about this and Pacific Sun will be forwarding its reports to them for further investigations.
