The Water Authority of Fiji is looking into bringing some backup generators for its pumping stations.

Last week, many areas around the country faced water disruptions when water pumps broke down due to power shutdowns.

According to spokesperson Maika Nagalu, they are looking at the option of backup generators as he is not sure by when these generators will arrive.

Meanwhile, Nagalu said a major upgrade of water mains is underway in the Suva-Nausori corridor where 30 year old pipes are being replaced by new ones.

There were also many burst mains around the country causing water disruptions.
