It is back to another review of the performance of the Digicel Fiji 7s team after we bowed out in the Rugby World Cup semifinal earlier today.

Fiji Rugby Union's High Performance Unit General Manager, Mike Ryan said a thorough review of the team's preparation, performance of the team, structure in and around the team will be conducted.

This will then be given to the board as Fiji prepares for the next IRB series and the 2016 Olympics.

Ryan said it is clear that additional support is needed for the coaching structure.

Tomasi Cama Senior was the trainer of the Fiji team however he only joined the team in Russia last Tuesday.

Ryan said another issue that needs to be addressed is that the Fiji Rugby Union needs to contract players for the full IRB series.

The focus is now moving to the Pacific Mini Games in September and Ryan said they are also looking at selecting 17 and 18 year olds for the Junior Youth Olympics next year.

Meanwhile the most successful 15's coach for Fiji and former Wallaby and Fiji player, Ilivasi Tabua said the 7s rugby game has become more modern.

Tabua said we have to move away from thinking that our Fijian flair can always win us the game.

Tabua added that other teams now know how to beat Fiji, especially Sir Gordon Tietjens.

Fiji lost to New Zealand in the semifinal 17-0 before we beat Kenya 29-5 to finish in third place in the tournament.

New Zealand won the Melrose Cup with an impressive 33-0 win over England.

Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s team defied all odds as they created history by winning their first ever major title beating Netherlands 12-10 to win the Bowl.

New Zealand was also crowned the Womens Rugby World Cup Sevens champions after a 29-12 win over Canada.
