The New Employment Relations Tribunal is expected to make a ruling on the dispute filed by trade unions for civil servants back pay soon.

Officials from Labour Ministry have confirmed that their Disputes Committee referred the matter to the Tribunal after they were unable to bring the two parties including the Public Service Commission and the Trade Unions to the negotiating table for a resolution.

The Ministry said the tribunal will call both parties to present their submissions.

It’s unclear by when the Tribunal will make its ruling.

Trade Unions are calling for civil servants' back pay with 5% paycut restoration, whereas PSC continues to say that the interim government is not in the position to give back pay.

The remaining 2% pay for civil servants is expected to be restored in December this year, as 3 percent was restored earlier this year without backdating.
