Labasa Police are now assisting a family to dig a grave and to remove the body of a baby who was accidently buried by another family with one of their relatives.

Divisional Crime Officer Northern, ASP Luke Rawalai has confirmed that detectives have been dispatched to the scene to help family members remove the body.

According to police the man who was buried had one of his legs amputated and the mortuary attendant wrapped the body of the baby and left it beside the man's body in the Mortuary.

The man's family took the body and the baby for burial thinking that the baby is the amputated leg.

Upon police investigation the Mortuary attendant told police that he left the babies body in the same tray with the man's body.
