A one and a half year old baby boy of Naiborebore village in Tailevu was found dead inside a 20 litre gallon which was cut into half and filled with water.
Assistant Police Spokesperson, Corporal Suliano Tevita has confirmed that the victim's mother left him near the gallon to take some clothes off the line.
She returned after a few minutes and found the baby inside the gallon.
Attempts to revive him failed.
The baby was rushed to the Korovou Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The drowning toll is now three for this year compared to nil for the same period last year.
Corporal Suliano Tevita has called on the members of the public not to leave their children alone and to exercise precaution.
