Ba families forced to higher grounds

Two houses and a shop in Sarava Ba are under two to three feet of water and police are closely monitoring the situation.
Confirmation also that the Queens Highway at Sarava Ba is also under flood water and is closed to all the traffic.
Namasau bridge is also under two feet of water, Toge, Veisaru and Balevutu bridges are also under 3-4 feet of flood water and is closed to all the traffic. The Rarawai flats and the FSC road are also under four feet of water and is closed to all the traffic.
And as heavy rain continues, businesses in Ba town are shutting down and owners are taking precautionary measures. Speaking to Legend FM news just moments ago RC Manubhai employee in Ba Ravineel Kumar says they are moving all their stock to the bulk house as the Ba river is rising very rapidly.
Meanwhile, in Tavua, Police confirm that Yaladro Flats are under 5 feet of water as the water level at the Tavua Bridge continue to rise.
Police in Rakiraki confirms the Rewasa Bridge near Vaileka town is underwater after the heavy downpour early this morning.
Police says rain has stopped but the bridge is still flooded and Police are monitoring the situation. The road is still open to traffic but motorists are advised to take precaution.
The Nadi Weather Office advises people to take precautions as flood of low lying areas is expected as a trough of low pressure moves over the Fiji group.
Heavy rain is forecast for the Western and Central Division over the next 24 hours.
