As heavy rain continues, flood waters are now reported to be entering Ba town with Police and Town Council workers expected to close off the town area soon.
Station Officer Ba Inspector Peniasi Nabuta confirms that bus services have also been suspended as several areas are under flood waters in Ba.
Nabuta said several bridges are also under flood water and the roads are closed to all traffic.
More than 23 houses in Koroqaqa, Ba are also under flood waters and the families have moved to higer ground. Confirmation also that the Queens Highway at Sarava Ba is also under flood water and is now closed to all the traffic.
There is also flooding in Lautoka. Police confirmed that Drasa Dam road in Lautoka is also under flood water. It has also been confirmed that Mataniwai and Nabuna Bridge are under two feet of water and closed to all traffic.
Meanwhile, in Tavua, Police confirm that Yaladro Flats are under 5 feet of water as the water level at the Tavua Bridge continue to rise.
Police in Rakiraki confirm the Rewasa Bridge near Vaileka town is underwater after the heavy downpour early this morning.
Police said rain has stopped but the bridge is still flooded and Police are monitoring the situation. The road is still open to traffic but motorists are advised to take precaution.
The Acting Commissioner Western, Taniela Vocevoce said they are monitoring the situation.
Nadi Weather Office Deputy Director Alipate Waqaicelua is urging people living in flood prone areas to take precautions as flash floods are expected.
Waqaicelua said continous heavy rain is expected in the North and North western parts of the group for the next 24 hours.
