Ba, Labasa draw 2-all
Grouped in a tough pool, it was the Men in Black who led 1-nil at halftime with Tuimasi Manuca scoring the opening goal.
Ba scored their second goal through Isimeli Naresia in the 26th minute of the second half but the “never say die” attitude of the Babasiga Lions with just 4 minutes of play left, saw them come back to draw with Ba 2-all.
Taniela Waqa scored Labasa’s first goal before Roy Krishna equalized in the 31st minute of play.
Ba coach Yogendra Dutt said they had themselves to blame.
Labasa coach Gurjeet Singh was happy with the results knowing what they were up against.
In other results, Navua beat Tavua 2-nil, defending champion Rewa was held to a nil-all draw by Nadi while in the last pool game it was Lautoka who edged hosts Suva 1-nil with Valerio Nawatu scoring the winning goal.
Gates at the TFL Stadium will open at 8am for Day 2 with the first commentary at 5pm when Labasa face Savusavu and you can catch the live coverage on our sister station, Radio Sargam.
